Victor Harrison Victor Harrison is Metis on his father's side. Victor is 47 years old and has been carving for 33 years. Although Metis are not known for carving, Victor showed such a natural talent that Floyd and Benny Joseph of the Squamish Native Band of North Vancouver taught him the Coast Salish ways. Victor has been collaborating on works and carving with his friend John Joseph for over 25 years and they are now teaching Les Hamilton of the Sechelt Native Band as their apprentice. Victor and John have Totem Poles at the Bayshore Inn near Stanley Park in Vancouver, Thunderbird Marina on Marine Drive in Vancouver and two totem poles in a private estate in Whistler. Victor has numerous carvings (wall plaques, bowls, paddles, and totem poles) in private collections in B.C. and as far away as Germany. Chief Simon Baker of the Squamish Native Band of North Vancouver has some of Victor's carvings in his collection. Victor has the blessing and written permission to carve Native Art from Chief Floyd Joseph of the Squamish Native Band (Salish) of North Vancouver, Canada. |
