Dear Dave,

Attached are several pictures of the totem pole, inside our home in Watsonville, California. We couldn't be more pleased with it -- it is a lovely art object, with a special character, which is very much in the spirit of our house and our other Inuit and Native American art.

As you might imagine, I was a bit nervous commissioning this piece over the Internet, given that I have never met you or the artists. But I loved the look and "feel" of the objects that I saw on your website, and your responses to my first inquiry soon made me comfortable. I chose to commission the totem pole from you, rather than from several other artists whom I located on the Internet or from a gallery from which I have purchased other first nation's art. Your frequent communications with me, including sending me by email and regular mail photos of the pole in various stages of completion, were very reassuring. I also appreciated your staying in touch through the shipping process, and contacting the shippers in Vancouver on my behalf to relay my questions. (I also found the shippers very helpful when I dealt directly with them myself.)

As we were unpacking the pole yesterday -- it could not have been packaged more carefully! -- my husband opined that our friends would now be fully persuaded that I am an art obsessive. (Actually, he said they would finally be convinced that I am crazy.) But when the pole was in place, he was as pleased with it as I, agreed that it is very beautiful and that it seemed immediately to belong in the house.

Please feel free to share these pictures and my email with other prospective clients and to use me as a reference. I'm not certain that we ever discussed my occupation, but it might be helpful to prospective clients to know that I am a law professor at Stanford University in California.

Please convey my thanks to Chad Joe and his associate.

Sincerely,

Deborah
